HOW IT WAS CHECKED
Two readings of every homepage, then an independent review
The business. A business is included only if its own website still showed its listed phone number and named the city, with no closure notice. Chains, schools, charities, banks and public bodies are left out.
The finding. Each homepage was read twice by two different clients: once as plain HTML with scripts switched off, and once in a real browser with scripts running. A finding is recorded only when both readings agree. A page that blocked the check, redirected to another site or could not be read clearly yields no finding and the business is left out.
Independent review. A sample of 24 rows was checked two ways. A reviewer looked each business up against a second public source or its own website: 24 confirmed, 0 not confirmed, 0 contradicted and removed. A separate checker re-tested each sampled row's main finding with a different tool: 24 of 24 reproduced. 24 of 24 rows passed both. A release needs at least 95 percent and no severe mismatch. For this release a reviewer also looked up every one of the 220 businesses, reserve included, and 16 that were contradicted or could not be confirmed were removed before the list was frozen. Findings were re-tested on the sample only. The review is agent-assisted.
Shelf life. Websites change. This release is sold for 30 days from its checks, until 5 November 2026, and then closes by itself. Could not reproduce a finding, or found a dead number or a closed business? Tell us within 14 days and we replace the row from the 20 private reserve rows while they remain. Your download link works for 30 days.
Sources. Business details come from the Overture Maps Foundation Places theme, overturemaps.org, under permissive licences. The findings, checks and ranking are our own work. The pack is licensed for your internal business use and is not for resale. The largest pack in this release is 200 businesses.
